This first volume of the well-known textbook is designed for learners of Polish at the intermediate level. The second volume, which is for advanced learners, is in preparation. In this edition, the Communication part has been extended and new exercises to develop this language competence have been added. Each of the eight lessons consists of three parts: · Communication, which includes excerpts from press articles and communicative exercises to consolidate the proper use of new phrases and expressions and to encourage discussion; · Reading, which includes a text to read, explanation of new vocabulary and phraseology, written and oral practice activities, and poems; · Grammar, which consist of grammatical explanations followed by a variety of numerous exercises. The wide range of topics in Communication and Reading parts, clear grammatical explanations, as well as the great number and variety of exercises in all the sections make it a valuable resource book, already proved useful in learning Polish as a second or foreign language both in Poland and abroad.
