Nikolai Karlsson, son of Karlle Karlsson and Katarine, was born 6 December 1859 in Finland. He married Marjana Mattila-Karlson (1867-1932) in 1889 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. They had fourteen children. They settled in Cloquet, Minnesota.
