Economic Institutions Of Strategy

Since the publication of Oliver E. Williamson's Economic Institutions of Capitalism in 1985, new institutional economics approaches have increasingly been used to understand strategic challenges. This volume brings together the disparate strands of new institutional economics-based strategy research in a single comprehensive source. The papers in Economic Institutions of Strategy are designed to provide three kinds of value to scholars or organization and strategy. First, EIS highlights a wide array of new institutional approaches to the study of firm performance and its antecedents. Most notably, papers underscore how transaction cost economics has informed the study of firm performance across a variety of contexts and dependent variables. Second, for a specific set of topics, papers review the literature and bring readers up to date on the research found within these topics. These topics cover value creation and capture within and between firms.
