This short story describes the real-life experience of a seasoned hunter who ends up in a brutal, life-or-death face-off with a fierce wild animal. Using his tracking sensibilities and naturalist's instinct, an old man follows the trail of an injured buck during bow-hunting season in rural Virginia.
