About
Immigrant Carpenter Isaac Van Woert rode into Dixboro in September, 1845. A Handshake got him a job and a house for his family to live in. Three days after moving in he saw the apparition of a woman. Terrified, unable to sleep, and extremely curious, Van Woert stayed in the house for two more months. In the nine times that he saw the woman, she told him her story and why she could not rest. On December 8, 1845 Van Woert swore out a deposition before William Perry, Esq. Justice of the Peace of Ann Arbor, Michigan, stating the strange facts of his visitations by the widow, Martha Mulholland. That record is the basis of this fictionalized version of the story of the famous Ghost of Dixboro.
