Diana (Stars)

If Princess Diana was the undisputed star of the press, it was because she invented a style of her own, a style which captured the hearts of her admirers worldwide. This style and its evolution can be read as a kind of private journal: while in her public role as Princess of Wales, she was limited by the severe constraints of royal protocol to saying very little, in her external appearance she found a means of expressing her suffering, hopes, her struggles, rebellions and dreams. In this text, accompanied by a selection of illustrations, the author looks at this transformation of Diana's physical appearance, at the changes in her wardrobe and the careful sculpting of her body. Transformed from shy teenager into a model princess, Diana's inspired control of her image was one of her greatest triumphs.
