Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen was originally to a publisher in 1803 for £10. The publisher, however, decided not to publish Northanger Abbey, and eventually sold it back to Jane Austen's brother for £10. Northanger Abbey eventually made it to publication in late 1817 / early 1818.
Northanger Abbey was actually the first of Jane Austen's novels to be completed. The original name of Northanger Abbey was Susan.
