The quiet revolution

Central Florida, a land of pleasure for most of its visitors, has also for many years harbored a subculture of often exploited migrant workers. For these people, life was an ordeal to be withstood. Into this grim world the writes of this book ventured, key participants in an experiment mounted by their organization, HRI, Human Resources Institute, under sponsorship of The Coco-Cola Company, which had taken over the orange groves where the migrant pickers worked. Dedicated to the ideal that change for the good must come from the workers themselves, the company and HRI set about instigating working involvement in policies and programs that would dramatically alter and enrich the quality of the life in the groves.
