Originally published anonymously in 1644 under the title ‘Brevis excursus de loco, tempore et authore inventionis typographiae.’ One of two editions printed by Ballard in 1650. The work incorporates forged genealogical and historical evidence supporting Mentel’s claims that Johann Mentelin of Strassburg, the author’s ancestor, was the inventor of printing.
