Jekyll and Hyde 2: Henry Jekyll's Son

Five years after the death of Henry Jekyll, Gabriel Utterson finds Henry’s son, Edward, in an orphanage. He adopts Edward, bringing him into his family to be raised by his nephew.

Edward grows to be an intelligent and upstanding young man, following in the footsteps of his father. Then a single event changes the course of his life. Gabriel Utterson, suffering Alzheimer’s in the final years of his life, mistakes Edward for Henry Jekyll. He lambasts him for his crimes and returns all his journals and documents to him, putting him on the path to rediscovering his father’s formula.

Edward does not share his father’s demons and the discovery of the formula does not lead to his instant ruin. Instead, Henry Jekyll's formula features in Edward's life over many decades, including encounters with Jack the Ripper, John Maynard Keynes and the Suffragettes, fighting in the Boer War and WWI and then Edward’s final years living in America.
