About
The present paper os based on some rather preliminary ideas that professor Garcia developed during several discussions with the UNRISD food systmes team in Geneva in 1979. In 1980 professor Garcia moved to Mexico where as an UNRISD consulant he comenced to organized the Food Systems Society project for Mexico (SAS) as an interdisciplinary research effort of the Unversidad Autonoma Metroplitana-Xochimilco where hed had accepted a professorship. The conceptual framework outlined in Geneva was applied in practice to research on food systems and society in that country.
