Paul LAPIE (1869-1927) occupe une place singulière dans le paysage intellectuel des années 1900. Universitaire au carrefour de plusieurs disciplines, il est co-fondateur de l'Année sociologique (1898) avec Emile Durkheim et Célestin Bouglé : il participe à l'autonomisation des sciences humaines par rapport à la discipline mère, la philosophie. Il contribue au lent processus de démocratisation de l'école républicaine et laisse à ce titre une image très positive dans le monde enseignant. Voici quelques-uns de ses textes les plus importants, non réédités depuis plus de 80 ans.
