About
Made on Föhr marks the start of a new series of exhibitions and publications at the Museum Kunst der Westküste. The series will present art created in the context of numerous German and international artists’ stays on the island. Nicole Ahland, Elina Brotherus and Thomas Wrede perceived the nature on Föhr in very different ways. Their photographic works enable us to experience the island’s natural cosmos in a sensual manner and invite us to engage in an intimate dialogue. However, not everything is what it appears: some scenes reveal themselves to be deceptions, nearly perfect illusions that test our powers of perception. Moreover, in the context of photographic self-presentation, the North Frisian landscape is placed in a new light as a setting for bizarre poses.
