The essence of this book is in thinking about literature, whose power is precisely in what is in excess of it, in what eludes the attempt to capture it and subject it to pre-prepared categories: political, aesthetic or other. This book seeks to give overweight precisely to that excess, fragile and explosive charge that goes beyond any possibility of full extraction and interpretation. The 'thought of excess' is examined in the movement of forceps: from one wing of the movement to the mapping of excess language, which is imbued with the recognition that nothing is outside the text and that reality is always mediated by language. From the opposite wing, the concept of excess is examined in a tendency not to be satisfied with the chain of linguistic markers and their conventional meaning, but to 'peek' towards the excess of things, to trace the gliding of meaning beyond the language of linguistic tools that treasure the representation of reality, body and matter. This movement of forceps, whose axis is a point of non-contact between the tongue and things, seeks to be in the midst of the line out between the words and things, to touch the reality shaped in the text by a 'scratching' or 'cutting' touch, And locate the focal points of the sensory range that occurs while reading it. On this meridian line of reading the surpluses are woven the nine chapters of the book that will be dedicated to nine authors in Hebrew literature. Each of these authors is located at a significant crossroads in the historiography of modern Hebrew literature over the past century. These are chapters of reading and research created by Yosef Chaim Brenner, Uri Nissan Gensin, Yoram Kaniuk, Meir Wieseltir, Haim Beer, Nurit Zarchi, Emil Habibi translated by Anton Shamas, Hedva Harkabi and Sami Bardugo.
