About
The Austere Lifeʺ is the name of the series of photographs taken by Cristina Fraire (b. Buenos Aires, 1949) of an isolated community in the arid and rocky land of the Cerro Champaquí and the Pampa de Achala in the northern province of Córdoba between 1990 and 2001. With a traditional social organization, that has not change for many years and without roads, electricity, or telephones, the communitiesœ only means of survival are the wool, skin, and meat from their sheep and cattle.
