Vestingstad Rotterdam
About
Rotterdam, like every medieval city, has also been a walled fortress. Where the walls had to prevent enemies from entering - which did not always work - and the gates were closed at night to protect the population until the morning from unwelcome visitors. No less than thirteen gates have at any time marked the boundaries of the city. Wereldsma previously wrote the serial 'Laurenskerk in Rotterdam: 10 years of feuilletons 2002-2012'. This publication tells about the (building) history of the Grote Sint Laurenskerk and about the tombs of Witte Corneliszoon de With and Egbert Cornelis Kortenaer. In addition, Wereldsma explores travel reports, poems and even novels by more or less famous visitors from the Netherlands and abroad.
