Through the eye of Katrina

This volume presents collection of articles representing the causes of, consequences of, and responses to social injustice as illustrated through Hurricane Katrina. Occurring in 2005, Katrina was easily one of the deadliest and costliest natural disasters in the history of the United States. The editors have gathered writings that examine the structural inequality and cultural divisions in the United States that make a just response to disaster difficult, they offer analysis of the continuing struggle for social justice in the face of an event of the magnitude of Hurricane Katrina, and also look at public policy and activist responses that are potential avenues to a more just society.
