Le livre bien écrit a des lacunes et parfois prend le ton d'une pub pour Thales. C'est une bonne synthèse des dizaines d'ouvrages anglo-saxons sur le sujet et il y ajoute le point de vue français. Il a le mérite d’exister. On regrettera que l'auteur règle l'échec de PARKA(sic) en deux lignes, ne reconnaît pas le 584 comme le "papa" du Cotal, oublie l'ANTPS1, etc... Toutefois il reconnaît la contribution allemande trop souvent oubliée. Le titre enfin est une belle exagération : un siècle d’innovations ? On pourrait ainsi dire de l’hélicoptère « 500 ans de vol… ! » (Leonardo da Vinci)
