About
The history of the Schenkendorf manor in the Brandenburg district of Dahme-Speewald can be traced back to early modern times. At the beginning of the 20th century, publisher Rudolf Mosse made the estate an important meeting place for artists, scientists and scholars. After his death, his daughter continued the commitment until 1933, before the family fled from Nazi persecution into exile. This book describes the history of the estate in the years from 1896 to 1996, when it belonged to the German-Jewish family Mosse / Lachmann-Mosse. It reconstructs the glittering period of the estate as well as the dark years with expropriation and conversion as well as the final restitution.
