Despite The Past

Maggie and Eli have a lot in common. They both had traumatic childhoods, they both have serious trust issues, and neither has ever committed to a serious relationship. In addition to all of that, they’re both extremely attracted to each other.

Maggie likes to go out with safe men, and safe is not something she would ever associate with Eli. Good looking, definitely. Rich, exceedingly. Exciting, you bet. Dangerous … probably. The problem with safe is it’s also boring. No one has ever made her feel the things Eli evokes, but is the risk attached to this rich playboy who’s been sentenced to community service for past violent actions worth the pleasure she finds in his arms?

Eli likes women. Respect? That’s a whole different issue and, along with trust, something he’s never associated with women. Then, he meets Maggie at the homeless shelter where he’s been assigned to do community service. The first night they meet, she goes out of her way to be rude, condescending, and obnoxious. Despite her attitude toward him, he sets out to impress her and eventually wonders if she could be the exception to the rule … a woman he can trust, admire, and love.

Can two people with excessive baggage from the past find happiness together, or will previous events prove too much to overcome? While they both try to find the answer to whether or not they can overcome the past and forge a future together, the danger Maggie faced as a child stalks and finds her in the present, and only Eli can save her from a malicious attacker determined to make Maggie pay the ultimate price.
