About
The current study examined whether individuals possessing varying degrees of trait narcissism would respond to a video insult from an individual of the opposite sex differently than they would if the individual insulting them were of the same sex. Participants in the Insult conditions provided lower Teaching Assistant Evaluation Ratings than participants in the No Insult Conditions. Female participants in the No Insult/Same Sex conditions provided significantly lower ratings than female participants in the No Insult/Opposite Sex conditions. The results suggest that most individuals do not respond well to being insulted and will provide ratings reflecting that fact when they are given the opportunity to do so.
