Largely fabricated travels in Asia with a certain Burton between 1893 and 1894 by the American William Jameson Reid, not his first attempt at misleading readers with his supposed adventures in remote corners of the world. Reid’s fake travelogue was immediately exposed by the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
