Stolen Things

Raspberry Lynette Granby is a 12-year-old with a vivid imagination. This was the one thing she loved the most about herself...until her father was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Though he tries to paint their sudden move to her aunt's hill house in Maine as a grand adventure, Berry knows the truth: he's preparing his sister to become Berry's caregiver. No one can replace her father, but Berry doesn't want to think about that. Or her awkward aunt. Or even her long-absent mother. So she escapes - first into books, and then into the storybook forest at the bottom of the hill, where she meets a mysterious girl who is something out of a fairytale herself - and not necessarily the happy-ending kind.
