Decolonizing Library Science

Kalani, a non-binary, queer mixed Native Hawaiian person, is close to graduating from the Library Science program at University of Wisconsin-Madison. They write about how the field of library science is informed by Western centrism and suggest ways of creating a more diverse and inclusive curriculum. They discuss how library catalogs ascribe classifications to marginalized groups, the relationship between the archives and colonization, and the importance of indigenous librarianship.
