About
On the monumental condition in the context of modern architecture it would seem that the only constant lies in the disparity and fragmentation on the issue. This work compiles some episodes associated with that architecture that responded to the interest on how to define and formalize this issue that -paradoxically- was confined to the antipodes of the paradigm. The idea of the monumental, the definition of monumentality and - even more - its expression through architecture ignited debates, generated utopias and materialized certain spaces that constitute the analysis substance of this work. The dialectical structure of the book - image and text - narrates from the conscious bias the requirements of interest: the incongruence, the negation or the ambiguity as the ways to generate a complementary and critical discourse, brief but structured, of those widely known events.
