First edition of this work by the native-born loyalist Revd Samuel Peters. Includes a number of spurious colonial ‘blue laws’ that depict Connecticut as a puritan theocracy, as well as other fabricated data. Despite being dismissed by Trumbull (1786, see Bib# 1136572/Fr# 656 in this collection) and others, Peters’s inventions were long reprinted as genuine and are still frequently cited to be so.
