About
"Essays on Tafalla and his work Flora Huayaqulensis: sive descriptiones et icones plantarum huayaquilensium secundum systema linnaeanum digestae. (Madrid: Instituto ad Conservandam Naturam; Horto Regio Matritense = Real Jardín Botánico, 1989). Tafalla's work publishes results of a royal botanical expedition to the coast and southern highlands between 1799-1808, and includes 217 facsimiles of color drawings of plants. The findings of this expedition (a continuation of the Ruiz and Pavón botanical expedition) were previously unknown. The other members of the expedition and 'coauthours' of the work were botanist Juan Agustín Manzanilla and painters Xavier Cortés and José Gabriel Rivera"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
