About
**Can an outsider find a murderer and stop the slaughter of the next clan feud?** When I learn that my beloved Uncle John Harris has been shot and killed by an unknown person, I make plans to attend the funeral in the land of my mama’s origin, the Kentucky mountains. My mama refuses to attend and forbids me to go myself, but asserting my independence at 20 years of age is something I need to do. In Kentucky, I soon learn that the two sides of my family, the Harrises and the Crockers, have a long-standing feud that flares up once a generation. To prevent widespread death, I declare to all the Harrises that I will find out who killed Uncle John. Because few of my Appalachian family know me, I’m an outsider to them and it’s hard to investigate. I also wrestle with my own personal issues of moral action and revenge. But if I don’t find the murderer and convince my Harris family to turn the matter over to the authorities, the next feud flareup will claim many lives. *~Jo Harris*
