About
This Symposium was a follow-up to the First Symposium held at Unesco HQ, Paris, May 1972. Wide-ranging discussions covered the need for cooperation among Editors of primary library/documentation/archives journals. Emphasis was placed on support for Editors working in developing countries. The comparative analysis of abstracting/indexing services carried out as a result of the First Symposium was considered. Its recommendation that there might be cooperation towards a single abstracting service in English was further discussed. Support for this proposal from Unesco was urged. A Personal Comment. The drive towards a single English language abstracting service could only have been provided by a librarian/information scientist with entrepreneurial flair.
