Pesquisa e teoria nas ciências sociais

This volume brings together texts from professors of the Collegiate in Social Sciences of the Federal University of the São Francisco Valley (UNIVASF, Campus de Juazeiro/BA), around a common problem: the relationship between theory and research. More explicitly, one tries to evaluate how an author, or a theoretical school allows to interpret in a original way a social phenomenon, or even as a doubt put by the research questions the theory. It offers a rich variety of cases and theoretical approaches in the various areas of social sciences: anthropology, sociology, political science, history. Articles are grouped into three sessions. The first one concerns the religious experience, with contributions by Claudio Almeida, Delcides Marques and Luciana Duccini. In the second session, entitled "Syndicalism, press and politics in Brazil", we will find articles by José Fernandes Souto Jr and Vanderlei Souza Carvalho. Finally, the third session brings together texts on the themes of education, NGOs and HIV / AIDS prevention, prepared by Lúcia Marisy Souza Ribeiro de Oliveira, Luzania Barreto Rodrigues and José Hermógenes Moura da Costa. We believe that this set of articles will demonstrate the diversity of possible approaches and, above all, the potential and fecundity of the social sciences to analyze contemporary social phenomena.
