The book is devoted to one of the main problems of prehistory, the peopling of the New World, the oldest archaeological sites of the Americas, connections between prehistoric cultures of Siberia and America. For the first time a comprehensive review of relevant evidence (including Quaternary geology, paleogeography, paleontology, archaeology, ethnography, physical anthropology, genetics, linguistics, folklore studies, mythology, etc.) based on the multidisciplinary approach, has been presented to the Russian audience. Due to the wide scope of the research topics under consideration, the book, oriented toward a general audience, could be useful for the students of the departments of archaeology and ethnography as well as scholars from related fields. The book is written by the scholars from leading Russian academic institutions, the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) and the Institute of the History of Material Culture.
