About
"Published posthumously and edited by Manuel Veiga, this work adds to a long list of musicological writings by Diniz that focus on three centuries of musical activities in the states of Pernambuco and Bahia (see HLAS 50:4398, HLAS 36:4538, HLAS 32:5046, HLAS 34:5033, and HLAS 46:7059). Based on primary sources, this study includes biographies of 20 chapel masters active at the Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Bahia, and provides excerpts of documents. (See review in Inter-Am. Music Rev., Vol. 13, No. 2, 1993, p. 159-160.)"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
