About
Colin O'Kane, disillusioned with life in Ireland, stows away aboard ship, neither knowing nor caring about its destination. A seaman, about to retire, befriends him. He stays in Nazare, a lovely fishing village in Portugal, for over a year, making lifelong friends. However, his original plan of getting to America where a rich uncle will finance his education persists, and it's time to leave for Boston, Massachusetts. His best friend Tony accompanies him, where they become involved with events they never imagined could happen--crime, gambling, even murder. Colin realizes his dream of becoming a trial lawyer, but it doesn't come without a price. Secrets kept, refusals to accept the truth, and deception abound. Additionally, his theory that you'd better use people (for they're sure to use you when given the chance) disintegrates as the realities of life unfold. "Never Say Never" is an appropriate subtitle for "Web of Secrets." Love, loyalty and friendship ultimately drive the characters to an enlightening conclusion--that confessing your weaknesses makes you strong."
