About
The book tells the story of the imperial neighborhood contemplating the main events that acted in the urban and economic transformation of the region. With graphic and fine art editing, it brings the history of the occupation of this site that accompanied the political, economic and social history of the city of Rio de Janeiro, as well as that of the country. The colonization of the city, the coming of the Portuguese royal family, the Empire, the Republic, the changes of the capital and the urban plans elaborated were facts that directly influenced the formation and development of the city and Brazil. SÃO CRISTÓVÃO is, therefore, a beautiful cut out of the memory of the city of Rio, designed with about 40 original illustrations, icons and maps created exclusively for this publication that offer the reader the opportunity to know the history of this important cultural and historical stronghold of Rio in a playful way, with fluid and attractive reading. Within graphic background are highlighted constructions of architectural relevance located in São Cristóvão and that exemplify the periods ranging from the Jesuit occupation to the present day, such as the Centro de Tradições Nordestinas Luiz Gonzaga, Quinta da Boa Vista, the museums such as: the Primeiro Reinado; Militar Conde de Linhares; de Astronomia e Ciências Afins, Nacional, among others.
