Just getting into her sixth school in four years, senior Jack Gremillon is ready to serve the rest of her high school sentence and get out of another backwater Louisiana town - for good. She never expected to fall in love here. And even more unlikely, to be fallen in love with. It's not that easy though. Rachel Kendrick is Pentecostal, and while she's falling for Jack, she's got things of her own to work through. She has to figure out how Jack is going to fit into her plans, because she suddenly can't imagine life without her. Her world has been unsteady for a while however. It's not only the shock of falling for a girl that's rocking the ground beneath her feet. Her mother wants her to marry, to be a wife and mother herself.
