Fratris Felicis Fabri Tractatus de civitate ulmensi

This book was written by Fabri to describe the city of Ulm, his native city. The tract isn't exactly a straight-forward history because Fabri digresses into the recounting the names and deeds of the major families and a description of important geographic features and religious houses of the city. Some of the information is clearly apocryphal and Fabri is often dissmisive of fanciful etymologies for the name of the city. The book is valuable less for the information he provides and more for the insight it provides into the mentality of a late medieval friar looking to honor his city with an ambitious work that enables him to combine history and myth to provide the most enjoyable description of Ulm.
