About
"Siachen means the place of wild roses, far from the meaning the reality is different. It is an extremely cold and barren glacier with brutal weather conditions. It is the second largest glacier in non polar areas. Much after the first Kashmir war of 1947-48, both India and Pakistan realized the importance of this area and committed their respective forces to dominate the glacier area leading to several conflicts and clashes between the two nations. The war on the highest battlegrond in the world is being fought under inhuman conditions at heights above 20000 feet and temperature below -50 degrees celsius. Cold weather and the absence of oxygen at these rarefied heights are the real enemies."
