Vera Nilsson (1888-1979) var skolad i kubismens 1910-tal i Paris men med sin djärva färg- och formbehandling var hon förstås också expressionist. En utställning i Köln 1912 visade ett 100-tal målningar av van Gogh och för Vera blev detta möte med hans konst avgörande. Hon väjer inte för komplikation i färg och komposition och inte heller i motiv; snarare dras hon till det dova, realistiska, icke-idealiserande. "Vera Nilsson är tung, hon är vresig, men hon är det med en brinnande attack", skriver Mårten Castenfors. Exhibition: Mjellby Konstmuseum, Halmstad, Sweden (06.06-06.09.2014) / Liljevalchs konsthall, Stockholm, Sweden (04.10.2014-06.01.2015).
