North station urban renewal project: interim/draft/final environmental impact statement

...this document addresses the environmental impacts of implementing an urban renewal plan to transform a blighted and underutilized section of downtown Boston into a major mixed-use development project to include a new sports arena, a new federal office building, additional private office and commercial activity, structural parking for 3,700 cars, an innovative riverfront development through creation of an island for 1,100 residential units, and extensive transportation improvements; the principal impact and benefits identified include increased levels of traffic generation, water quality improvements, potential hydrological effects from the construction of the mid-river island, improved public access to the riverfront, increased energy and water consumption and waste generation, and potential development conflicts; includes the MA Environmental Notification Form (ENF) and related documentation; describes the proposed project and presents alternatives; considers historic preservation and archaeological issues; profiles the area (land use, demographics, transportation facilities, public services and facilities and economic activity); evaluates impacts on land use and development, transportation facilities )including Green Line relocation), public utilities and services, physiological (topography, vegetation and biological resources, air quality, noise levels, energy conservation, urban design, wind, shadow, socio-economic, etc.; three editions are kept on this number (an "Interim" dated 29 August 1980, a "Draft" dated 30 June 1982 and a "Final" dated 30 November 1983); the final edition includes comments received on the Draft together with responses; appendices contain many related documents and data including traffic volumes and water consumption data; the appendices to the draft report include copies of comments received on the interim report together with responses; copies of these items were in the BRA collection...
