"Ex libris J[ohannes] Kepler" on title page, forged by the “prince of forgers” Vrain-Denis Lucas and crossed prior to the sale of Chasles's books (cf. H. Bordier & É. Mabille, Une fabrique de faux autographes, ou récit de l’affaire Vrain Lucas. Paris, 1870, p. 73, last entry). As all the forged autographs manuscripts and letters purchased by Chasles from Lucas are in the Bibliothèque Nationale, the few surviving "association books" are the only examples of Lucas' forgeries now possible to acquire.
