About
A young naive professor working for a small newspaper as their Science Editor invents a breakthrough in applied power and attracts the attentions of Russia, America, and England, all of whom want to be the first to use his device in reducing their dependence on fossil fuels from foreign nations. A diverted Russian U-boat Captain is first on the scene but she brings troubles and danger of her own. She is the prize in her temporary crews' raffle that they are all anxious to win. And she is the emissary sent to steal the only working prototype for her government. The unlikely two principals form an uneasy alliance and develop feelings for each other as spy and counter spy moves make their life difficult. The device has a major fault and the Scientist Editor must flee for his life using the Witness Protection System to ensure America develops the first full scale working commercial version of his device or forfeit his life and the life of his Russian girlfriend.
