Soms wordt dat gevonden: in een landschap of in het 'schoon vlees' van een kleinkind, maar het is altijd voor even. Er zijn oorlogsgraven, er is Alzheimer, er wordt een varken geslacht. Net als in 'De overtijd' (2006) zijn deze gedichten zintuiglijk, er wordt veel in gekeken, maar ze zijn toegankelijker, lyrischer zelfs en onmiskenbaar geschreven in het liturgisch dialect uit zijn vorige bundels.
