Rosl's Daughter

As the daughter of a famous cabaret star, Liesl Müller-Johnson had an extraordinary childhood full of music, love and glamour. Growing up in Vienna between the wars, Liesl flitted between the warmth and security of her adored grandmother's close-knit community and the bohemian lifestyle of her mother, singer Rosl Berndt, where she mixed with famous musicians, composers and impresarios and was caught up in the theatrical whirlwind of one of Europe's most opulent cities. But the sparkle and romance of Liesl's world could not last, and the fact that she was half-Jewish was a constant source of fear.
