"Un sentimiento de incertidumbre obliga a este joven poeta ecuatoriano (1969) a un enfrentamiento constante con el lenguaje y el poema. Con una doble atención hacia su propia escritura y hacia el espacio de la ciudad en que vive, Báez se entrega al hacer poético observando el espacio físico de su transcurrir y el lenguaje por el que lo expresa. De este modo, también comenta su propia manifestación desde una nivel metalingüístico.
