About
Published in 1979, L'horreur d'été recounts the sadistic exploits of Charlie Hogan, a Vietnam veteran and sheriff's deputy in Rockville (New Mexico). Taking advantage of his uniform, he preferably massacres defenceless people: Mexicans, hippies, women, etc. In 1979, L'horreur d'été suffered the wrath of the censors by receiving three bans: for minors, for display and for advertising. No doubt it had been misread by the censors… However, in Métal Hurlant, Jean-Pierre Truchaud praised the feat: “Paucard explodes all limits (…) Read it. Paucard has not finished striking. Humphrey Paucard is one of the pseudonyms chosen by Alain Paucard before signing with his own name. He also wrote under this alias Alain Monnet S’Pique et Glide and L’Ulster à l’stomach.
