Patterns of demographic, economic and value change in the western United States

Report begins with a brief discussion of long term demographic trends, and then turns to recent patterns of change in demography, economics, social perceptions about the environment, and peoples' value for land, water, and economic prosperity. The second part of the report deals with projections of future population growth and change in the west. It concludes with a brief discussion of what the implications of these changing large-scale social forces have for water use and management in the west.
