Hvor folk færdes

Art must go 'where people move and have it in mind on a daily basis,' said brewer Carl Jacobsen, and since the mid-1920s, the New Carlsberg Foundation has financed hundreds of artistic decorations in institutions and urban spaces throughout Denmark. The book presents 50 unique works from the last ten decades. From Vilhelm Lundstrøm's mosaics, which hang in isolation high up on the walls in Frederiksberg Swimming Hall, to Karin Lorentzen's citizen-involving water art on Torvet in Lemvig. The fascinating story about the artists, about the creation of the decorations and about the works' interaction with their surroundings is written by art historian Tom Hermansen. Behind the book's photographs is Anders Sune Berg Kunst skal ud 'hvor Folk færdes og daglig har den for Øje,' mente brygger Carl Jacobsen, og siden midten af 1920'erne har Ny Carlsbergfondet finansieret hundredevis af kunstneriske udsmykninger i institutioner og byrum over hele Danmark. Bogen præsenterer 50 enestående værker fra de seneste ti årtier.
