About
This volume is intended for undergraduate study as part of a language course, or for individual study and self-improvement by would-be or practising professional translators. The level of difficulty and subject range of the texts is also intended to help the student to prepare for professional examinations such as the Diploma in Translation of the Institute of Linguistics. The contents include a discussion of different approaches to the process of translation, together with a selection of source texts in English. For each source text there will be a suggested target text together with detailed Annotations on the problems for translation posed by each text.
