Haritada bir nokta şeklinde gösterilen Kütahya İl Merkezi’nin üzerine pergelin bir ayağını koyalım ve yüz elli kilometre yarıçapında bir daire çizelim. Bu dairenin içine; Kütahya İli’nin ilçeleri ile birlikte tamamı, Eskişehir, Uşak, Afyonkarahisar il merkezleri, Bursa İli’nin güneyi ve Balıkesir İli’nin güneybatısı girer. Bu yöreye kabaca İç Ege veya İçbatı Anadolu denir. Doğduğum, büyüdüğüm, yaşadığım ve yaşlandığım bu yerler, Kurtuluş Savaşı’nın en önemli olaylarının geçtiği kutsal topraklardır. Bu topraklar, o zaman ki adı ile Kütahya Livası (Sancağı) (Mutasarrıflığı), şimdiki adı ile Kütahya İli toprakları ve çevresidir. Kütahya İl Merkezinde, Gediz, Simav, Altıntaş, Dumlupınar ilçelerinde, Eskişehir, Uşak ve Afyonkarahisar’da, Türk Milli Mücadelesi’nin destanları yazılmıştır.
