The basic objectives of this text book is to present advanced statistical methods and numerical data analysis for the students and research scholars in Library and Information Science (LIS) who require to know about the characteristics and the methods of library statistics so that they can proceed with their activities systematically and execute efficiently. This book is also intended for the LIS professionals working in libraries and information centres, who need to understand several statistical methods in order to analysis and interpretation of numerical data as well as drawing valid conclusions and making reasonable decisions. This text book has been written with the idea that this is their exposure to the subject to library statistics. Comments and criticisms from students as well as from teachers in LIS and friends for more correction and improvement of the standard of the book will be gratefully acknowledged. I shall be thankful if the text book becomes useful to my beloved LIS students and also readers. It is hoped that the students, research scholars and LIS professionals will helpful finding these features not only in developing a genuine interest in the subject of library statistics but also in acquiring the desired level of proficiency in it.
